Wallpaper Weekly, no. 17 / Marthe Armitage “Chestnut”

Designer: Marthe Armitage / Chestnut

We’ve had an extended vacation, but we’re back and ready for an exciting and prosperous 2012! What better way to get back in the swing of things than Wallpaper Weekly?!

This week, we feature a hand-printed botanical wallpaper by Marthe Armitage, a UK based designer. Isn’t it mind-boggling how detailed this hand-printed paper is?

It must be like having a beautiful line drawing covering the walls.  Here it is installed in the Boat Room of Dinder House, a historic Georgian home sited on 23 acres (!) in Somerset, England featured in NYTimes.

Read more about how Ilse Crawford transformed this 1801 estate with 39 rooms into a functional home for a modern British family.  Highlights include turning the Ballroom into the Kitchen and creating a Lego room for the family’s four young boys.  “If a room with a perfect view dedicated to Lego sounds ostentatious, it isn’t here; it’s used daily.” We know one of our own clients would appreciate this statement…and a Lego room in NYC!

ps – did you see our office in House Beautiful this month? Hint: page 41!

Love seeing it used in the bathroom – truly stunning.

And, a Lego room? I’m off to check it out. Nothing would make my boys happier.

    Happy New Year to T/F!!!
