Venini + Matisse’s “La Gerbe”

Venini Limited Edition Vases, Bergdorf Goodman

How fantastic are these technicolored vases from Venini? Do you think they were inspired by Matisse’s La Gerbe? Or, was it more the art director at Bergdorfs when they styled and photographed these little gems?

"La Gerbe" by Henri Matisse, 1953

"La Gerbe" installed in the LA home of it's commissioners, Sidney and Frances Brody, via LACMA

La Gerbe is now part of the permanent collection at LACMA. Here’s a great post on the acquisition and how the museum removed this 2000-pound ceramic piece of art from this room where it hung for over 50 years!

Yes fabulous visual segue!! While I don’t know the artistic inspiration for Venini’s Handkerchief vases, I do know that a talented and clever art director worked on this shoot!!
