Passing the Torch! TradHome 2012

We are overjoyed to be passing the torch of Traditional Home’s “Top New Trad” honor to a dear friend who also happens to be one of the greatest (and wittiest) design talents we know: Nick Olsen. Check out the spread of the Gramercy Park apartment designed by Olsen via the all new TradHome (the online magazine by the editors of Traditional Home)…

Congrats to all the amazing 2012 New Trad Designers!

Window Display Foray!

Last night, we celebrated along with our friends at Lillian August for the launch of New York City Cottages & Gardens!  In celebration, we designed a window (progress shots above!) along with windows by Amy Lau and the NYC&G Rising Stars, Curious Yellow.  The launch party was a true success – with a huge turn-out and Prosecco flowing!

Most especially, we’d like to thank all of our colleagues, friends, and family who came to support our foray into window design. For those who weren’t able to make it last night (or won’t be in the neighborhood of 19th Street between 5th & 6th over the next month – yes – it will be up for the next month!) here are some quick snapshots of the full window…

Our inspiration? A Parisan themed toile printed fabric by Dominique Picquier “Paris gypse” sold in the US by Studio Four NYC (n.b. it’s based on a Medieval map).

With this fabric, a red solid and a ticking stripe, the Lillian August upholstery workroom transformed our vintage settee.  (Did you know Lillian August has a full upholstery and woodworking workroom in Norwalk, CT open to the trade? – we were SO impressed!)

We hope you’ll swing by over the next month – to see ALL the windows (Amy Lau and Curious Yellow both knocked it out of the park!) and check out the goodies inside the huge two floor Lillian August home store – that span a full city block between 19th & 20th streets!

Save the Date! Thursday, March 15

Join us next Thursday at Lillian August on 20th between 5th & 6th to celebrate the launch of the New York City Cottages & Gardens (the same brilliant minds behind Hamptons, Connecticut and Palm Beach Cottages & Gardens.) We are thrilled for the brand new NYC adaptation of this publication – that we were both completely hooked on last summer in the Hamptons!

In honor of this momentous magazine launch, we’ll be designing one of three window displays at the Lillian August showroom. Bloggers are invited to an exclusive preview of the windows – others by Amy Lau and a mystery NYC&G “Rising Star” designer! – followed by a live design twitter chat hosted by our favorites at #DesignTV.  If you’re interested in attending – for the blogger preview or the cocktail reception, please RSVP to Liza (liza  at  blitzerandcompany  dot  com).

And a little sneak peek at our window display design…… we’ve transformed a vintage settee that we scored while shopping with Quintessence in New Canaan, CT.  Here’s the before photo of this fun upholstery piece.

Hope to see you next Thursday for the grand reveal AFTER transformation!
